Newbie Review of Specialized XC

I admit I’m a roadie - I haven’t rode on real dirt since I was a kid. I did play around on trail bikes and motocross bikes in the late 70’s and early 80’s though, and that’s what it reminds me of.
 
I first took the trail on my hybrid Giant Cypress. I had to ride all prim and proper, careful not to hit any obstacles, no jumps. The scenery was nice but I wanted more. I then went to the Ride On Bike Kiosk and borrowed a Specialized XC fully suspended bike. They quickly adjusted it to fit the big fat geek, and off I went. Wow - it was like sitting on a couch at first. Smmooooth. The bike felt freshly tuned. I found out later this was the mechanics regular bike. (As a shop employee I guess they get “company bikes”)
 
I was going to spend a few minutes getting used to the feel of a new bike, but within seconds I felt very confident and comfortable.READ THE FULL REVIEW
