30 DEGREES AND YOU WANT TO DO WHAT?
October 16th, 2006 by EriI guess it takes a lot of dedication and fortitude to get up in the morning and go for a bike ride before the sun is up with a 30 degree cold weather. My buddy Randy and I decided to do that this morning. It was freezing, it reminded us of old times field operations; when you have to pull guard inside your fox hole, those were miserable times for us. At least it would prepare us for the cold. After looking at the morning traffic it reminded us of why people commute by bike commuters rather be cold on the road than to put up with traffic. Downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania like any other big city has lost of morning traffic, Harrisburg has two main street bridges that are always congested in the mornings and afternoons, next to the bridge however there is a walk and bike lane were the bike commuters travel happily to their jobs. You can see the expressions on their faces, they look like they are ready for anything coming their way, they are looking forward to a days work. The vehicle commuters in the other hand look like they are ready to kill somebody, some are on the phone others scratch their head, and others lean on their head against the window. They are frustrated before they get to work; by the time they get to work they are mad at the world. This is no way to start a day.

Well gosh, Eri, no wonder you were cold; you forgot to put pants on.
And from the looks of that picture, you were only wearing one glove.

The coldest Moe and I ever rode was during the winter a few years ago, and that was 40 degrees. That’s freezing to us California folks.

I’m just hard like that. Keeping up with the old days. Besides once you warm up , you are good.

“Once you warm up youre good.” I could agree with that. But I don’t think I got warm enough the whole ride. And what are you doing with just one glove anyway?
